I want to schedule a consultation. What should I do?
Our office offers free consultations so you can meet a provider and see if it's a good fit. Our consultations last 15 - 30 minutes. We'll need a little information from you before you can schedule a consultation. If you call our office or send in a submission form, our schedulers will reach out to make sure we have your name, date of birth, contact information like email and phone number, information on if you plan on using insurance for services, and a brief description on what you're looking to work on in therapy. Once we have a time that works for you and the therapist, we'll need to know if you want an in-person or virtual consultation. If you're in-person, please make sure you know which location your consultation will be at! For virtual consultations, our office uses our Therapy Appointment portal to host the video call. You will need to establish a Therapy Appointment account and have access at least 24-hours before your consultation. Our schedulers will send you a login link from Therapy Appointment to your email. It will have you enter your date of birth, then set a username and password. Therapy Appointment will ask you to fill out other information like address, emergency contacts, etc. You may skip over most of this information - We also ask that you skip adding any insurance or payment information at this time. If you get stuck at any point, our schedulers can help! Our office may cancel / reschedule a virtual consultation if you have not set up your Therapy Appointment account at least 24 hours before the consultation.
What is the process of setting up a first appointment?
Scheduling a first session brings a lot of questions! We have a scheduler that can help you at every step of the onboarding process, so please use them as a resource! Our office will start by grabbing some basic information from you. We'll need to know your name, date of birth, contact information like email and phone number, information on if you plan on using insurance for services, what times work for an appointment, and a brief description on what you're looking to work on in therapy. Our schedulers will also ask if you have a preference of what therapist you'd like to work with. If you don't have a preference, that's completely fine! They'll be able to match you with a therapist based on your therapeutic needs, availability, and insurance. Our office will set up a Therapy Appointment account and send you a login link. You'll need to complete your account by adding information it requests. Please note if you're using Medicaid benefits, you should not add payment information. Our schedulers will assign new client paperwork in your Therapy Appointment portal. Once you complete the information adding portion, it will take you to your "Docs and Forms," where you can complete your new client paperwork. We highly recommend filling out new client paperwork completely - If you skip over questions asking about your therapeutic needs and symptoms, we'll need to spend more time during an intake getting this information. Your Therapy Appointment account and new client forms must be completed at least 48 hours before your first appointment. Our office will cancel/reschedule your appointment to allow more time to fill out paperwork if it is not complete. To schedule and hold your first appointment, our office will take a $50.00 new client deposit UNLESS you are using Medicaid benefits. This $50.00 deposit applies to your first session's copayment/coinsurance/deductible amount due. If your insurance pays 100%, we will refund this deposit back to you once we have confirmation of their payment. Our office has a 48-hour cancellation policy, and we will keep this $50.00 new client deposit if you do not give us 48-hour notice of cancellations/rescheduling for the first session unless it is an emergency. If you are using Medicaid coverage to pay for sessions, our office will cancel future sessions if you do not show for your first appointment, unless you are cancelling due to an emergency. If you are scheduling virtual sessions, your sessions will be held through Therapy Appointment. Please make sure to keep your login information!

We are here for you. If it would support your needs, we also encourage your family or significant other to participate in this journey with you.
Do you support clients who are part of the LGBTQ+ Community?
We are proud to support clients who are part of the LGBTQ+ Community! Our staff at Indy Counseling Professionals have experience providing individual, family, and couples/polyamorous partners therapy to clients who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, non-binary, intersex, or any way you identify. Our therapists work to engage with the LGBTQ+ community to promote empowerment, cultural sensitivity, and equality. We also collaborate with medical providers in the Indy area to provide the best possible care to clients who need gender affirming care. We meet everyone where they are and stand with them in awareness and alliance. We are passionate about our services and proud to be an LGBTQ+ ally.
Will I be judged or criticized?
We are here to help, not to judge. It takes strength to share your challenges and begin the process of change; we respect this by remaining non-judgmental at all times. Emotional states are complex and accumulative, and everyone is unique. During counseling, we’ll work together to sort things out and find a healthy direction for your future.
